# How do I publish and run a site built with v0, Bolt, Lovable or Cursor without paying much?

Build the site in your AI tool as static files (a folder such as dist/ or out/ with index.html in it), then publish that folder with siteon deploy. Siteon paid plans include hosting, forms and owner editing from $4/month per site, so you don't need to keep a builder subscription just to keep the site online. Anything that needs a server, such as API routes, a database or server-side rendering, does not run on Siteon hosting.

## Before you start: is your site static?

Siteon hosting serves files. It works when the build produces plain HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images.

| Your project | What to do |
|---|---|
| Plain HTML, or a static site generator (Astro, Eleventy, Hugo and so on) | Build it and publish the output folder |
| A Vite + React or Vue app (typical for Bolt and Lovable) | Run `npm run build` and publish `dist/`. Pre-render each route as HTML if visitors open deep links directly (see the limits below) |
| Next.js (typical for v0) | Use static export (`output: 'export'` in `next.config`), then publish `out/` |
| Needs a database, login, API routes or server-side rendering | Those parts don't run on Siteon hosting. Keep them where they are, or keep using the builder's hosting |

To get the code out of the tool, use its download or GitHub export, then build it on your machine. If you work in Cursor or Claude Code, you already have the code.

## Steps

### 1. Build the static files

```sh
npm install
npm run build      # produces dist/ or out/
```

### 2. Create the site and publish

```sh
npx -y siteon-cli login               # first time only
siteon sites create hanaya --name "Hanaya"
siteon hosting enable --site hanaya          # first time only
siteon deploy ./dist --site hanaya           # published at https://hanaya.siteun.com/
```

Only changed files are uploaded, and the live site switches over once everything has arrived. Changes reach every page within 15 seconds.

### 3. Add what the site needs to keep running

- A contact form: [add data-sitekit-form to the form](https://siteon.dev/guides/add-contact-form-to-static-site)
- Areas the owner can edit: [mark them with data-cms](https://siteon.dev/guides/add-cms-to-static-site)

### 4. Roll back if something breaks

```sh
siteon deploys --site hanaya     # list versions (* is live)
siteon rollback --site hanaya    # back to the previous version
```

You can hand all of this to the AI agent that built the site: it can run the same commands through the CLI or the MCP server.

## What it costs

| | Free | Lite | Standard | Business |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $0 | $4 | $12 | $39 |
| Hosting | 20MB | 200MB included | 1GB included | 5GB included |
| Requests | 150K/mo | 500K/mo | 5M/mo | 30M/mo |

The Free plan can publish too, at `<name>.siteun.com`, indexed by search engines, with a "Made with Siteon" badge in a corner of the page. Custom domains and badge removal start at $4. Going over the request limit never takes the site offline. For how this compares with the hosting offered by AI site builders, see [AI site builders' hosting compared](https://siteon.dev/compare/ai-builder-hosting).

## Limits and what's coming

- No server-side code: API routes, databases and server rendering are not run
- No fallback to `index.html` for unknown paths. `/about` looks for `about`, `about/index.html` and `about.html`; anything else returns your `404.html`. Apps that rely on client-side routing need each route rendered as HTML
- Only common web file types can be published (HTML, CSS, JS, images, fonts, video, PDF and similar), up to 25MiB per file
- Your own domain (coming soon). Until then the site is served on `https://<subdomain>.siteun.com/`

Siteon is infrastructure for AI-built websites: it adds hosting, a CMS your client can edit, contact forms, analytics and control from AI agents (CLI and MCP) around static HTML built with AI or by hand, so it is ready to ship.
